Europe

European locations only

Europe is the usual five rounds, but every location sits in a European city. The continent is dense and varied: distances between countries are small, so an error costs fewer kilometres but demands more precision.

Europe is the densest continent by countries per kilometre, and that changes the cost of an error. Two hundred kilometres out in Asia costs almost nothing; in the Benelux it puts you in another country. Twenty-nine anchor points span Lisbon to Helsinki and Dublin to Athens.

How a game goes

1. Identify the language group

Romance, Germanic and Slavic signage differ at a glance even without knowing the language. Scandinavia shows å, ø and ö; Poland ł and ż; Portugal ã and ç.

2. Check the number plate

The blue EU strip is almost universal, and the country code on it reads from a distance. Switzerland, Norway and Britain stand out by format alone.

3. Look at street signs

Every country has its standard: blue enamel with a green border is France, red and white is Czechia, white on the building wall is Britain, a black frame on a pole is Germany.

How to play this mode

Details decide it in Europe: plate colours and the blue EU strip on the left, the shape and colour of street-name signs, the style of lamp posts. Scandinavia stands out for long shadows even at midday, the south for louvred shutters and ochre render.

Tactics

North and south separate by light and vegetation before language. Long shadows at midday mean Scandinavia or the Baltics; ochre render and louvred shutters mean the Mediterranean.

Eastern Europe reveals itself through a combination: panel blocks on the outskirts, tram rails set into cobbles, Cyrillic in Bulgaria and Serbia. That is also where Czechia and Slovakia get confused — check the plates.

How scoring works

A direct hit is worth 5000 points per round, and the score falls off exponentially with distance. A five-round game is worth up to 25,000. Distances are measured on the server against its own copy of the locations, so a result cannot be forged from the browser.
