The ancient Eastern game of stones and territory. Surround space and your opponent's groups to control more of the board.
The goal is to surround more territory with your stones than your opponent. Just 4 steps to your first game.
You play on the line intersections (usually 19×19, or 9×9 for beginners). Black moves first, then White.
Each turn you place one stone on an empty intersection. Once placed, stones do not move.
If a group of your opponent's stones is left with no adjacent empty points ("liberties"), it is removed from the board.
The game ends when both players pass. You count surrounded territory plus captured stones — whoever has more wins.
Go is one of the deepest strategy games with no element of chance: the rules are simple, yet the number of positions is astronomical. What matters here is both capturing stones and a subtle sense of influence and territory, the balance between attack and building your own areas. On muta.pro you can play Go with a friend by room code or against a bot, choosing a 9×9, 13×13 or classic 19×19 board — right in your browser, no install needed.
